Terms & Conditions – Byron Writers Festival

All Festival tickets are sold by Byron Writers Festival Limited ABN 94 163 348 616 / ACN 664 156 709 (the Festival) who is responsible for the Event.

‍

The following conditions are of sale, entry and attendance at the Event.

‍

1. The Festival may amend the festival program at any time without notice; unavoidable program changes will be advised on site.
2. No refunds on tickets will be given except in accordance with the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice. If the event is unable to proceed on the advertised date or location due to intervening circumstances such as a force majeure, state of emergency (e.g. bushfires or floods), public health emergency, travel warnings or and government directives, Byron Writers Festival reserves the right to reschedule the Event, and offer a credit or exchange to the rescheduled date, or offer a refund request window of 28 days. Approved refunds and credits are paid less booking fees.
3. Participation in the Festival and entry to the festival site and the festival car park is at your own risk. To the maximum extent at law, you release the Festival, its Directors, employees, subcontractors and agents from any liability whatsoever arising, however caused by your attendance at the Festival.
4. The Festival reserves the right to take photographs and video, which may include images of Festival attendees, for the duration of the Festival and across all Festival sites and reserves the right to use all images and video across Festival media platforms and Festival promotional materials thereafter including supply of materials to media outlets.
5. No commercial activity may be conducted, and no written material or goods of any description handed out or otherwise distributed, at the Festival site without the express permission of the Festival.
6. No photograph or audio or video recording may be taken at the Festival site, other than for private non-commercial purposes, without the express permission of the Festival.
7. The Festival may refuse admission to the Festival site, and eject from the Festival site, any person whose behaviour is inappropriate or a threat to public safety. Any tickets purchased will not be refunded.
8. You must bring your ticket (physical or electronic version) for entry to the Festival site, where it will be exchanged for a wristband. You must wear your wristband/pass throughout the period you are at the Festival site. Please note, a 3-Day Pass is a multiple day ticket for the use of one person and cannot be shared. Your wristband is non removable / non transferable once issued and any wristband that has been removed or tampered with will not be replaced.
9. You must bring proof of eligibility for concession and discounted local tickets to the Festival site and the Festival may refuse entry if this is not provided upon request.
10. Minors under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult 18+ while on the Festival site. Ages are calculated at the date of entry to the Event.
11. The Festival reserves the right to examine and search all bags (including handbags), parcels and packages which are brought, or proposed to be brought, onto the Festival site, and to effect such other security measures as are reasonably necessary to protect the Festival site.
12. The Festival may amend or vary these terms and conditions at any time and that amendment will take effect from the time the amended terms and conditions are placed on the Festival website (www.byronwritersfestival.com).

Terms & Conditions – Festival Schools Days

This ticket is sold by Byron Writers Festival Limited ABN 94 163 348 616 / ACN 664 156 709 (The Festival) who is responsible for the Event.

The following conditions are of sale, entry and attendance at the Event.

‍

1. The Festival may amend the School Days program at any time without notice, unavoidable program changes will be advised on location.  
2. No refunds on tickets will be given except in accordance with the Live Performance Australia Ticketing Code of Practice. If the event is unable to proceed on the advertised date or location due to intervening circumstances such as a force majeure, state of emergency (e.g. bushfires or floods), public health emergency, travel warnings or and government directives, Byron Writers Festival reserves the right to reschedule the Event, and offer a credit or exchange to the rescheduled date, or offer a refund request window of 28 days.
3. Participation in the School Days program and entry to the Festival site is at your school’s own risk. To the maximum extent at law, you release the Festival, its Directors, employees, subcontractors and agents from any liability whatsoever arising, however caused by your attendance at the event.

5. No photograph or audio or video recording may be taken at the session location, other than for private non-commercial purposes with parent consent, without the express permission of the Festival. For the privacy of participants, no images or videos may be shared on social media without parental consent.
6. The Festival reserves the right to take photographs and video, which may include images of Festival attendees, for the duration of the Festival and across all Festival sites and reserves the right to use all images and video across Festival media platforms and Festival promotional materials thereafter including supply of material to media outlets.
7. The Festival may refuse admission to the Festival site, and eject from the site, any person whose behaviour is inappropriate or a threat to public safety.
8. Children and minors under the age of 18 must be supervised at all times by an identified supervisor or responsible adult 18+ while on the Festival site. Ages are calculated at the date of entry to the event.
9. The Festival reserves the right to examine and search all bags (including handbags), parcels and packages which are brought, or proposed to be brought, onto the Festival site, and to effect such other security measures as are reasonably necessary to protect the Festival site.
10. The Festival may amend or vary these terms and conditions at any time and that amendment will take effect from the time the amended terms and conditions are placed on the Festival website (www.byronwritersfestival.com)

Terms & Conditions – Workshops and Festival Friends Membership

This ticket is sold by Byron Writers Festival Limited ABN 94 163 348 616 / ACN 664 156 709 (The Festival) who is responsible for the Event.

‍

The following conditions are both of sale and attendance.

‍

1. The Festival may amend the workshop, seminar, course or membership package at any time without notice. Unavoidable changes will be advised on our website byronwritersfestival.com and all previously enrolled participants notified.
2. In the event that Byron Writers Festival must cancel or reschedule a workshop, seminar or course, and the participant is unable to attend on the amended date, payment will be refunded in full.
3. Except in exceptional circumstances, once purchased, workshop fees will not be refunded. If participants are unable to attend a workshop, and cancel their booking within seven days of the workshop, Byron Writers Festival may offer the place to a waitlisted participant. If filled, BWF may offer a credit for an alternative event or program. Credits must be redeemed within one year of issue or at a later date at Byron Writers Festival’s discretion. If not filled, the workshop fee will be forfeited.
4. Except in exceptional circumstances, once purchased, Festival Friend membership fees will not be refunded.

6. No photograph or audio or video recording may be taken at the workshop, seminar or course, other than for private non-commercial purposes, without the express permission of the Festival.
7. The Festival reserves the right to take photographs and video, which may include images of attendees, and reserves the right to use all images and video across Festival media platforms and Festival promotional materials thereafter including supply of material to media outlets.
8. Workshop participant contact details may be shared with the workshop presenter to facilitate communication.
9. The Festival may refuse admission to the workshop, seminar or course, and eject from the event, any person whose behaviour is inappropriate or a threat to public safety. Any tickets purchased will not be refunded.
10. The Festival may amend or vary these terms and conditions at any time and that amendment will take effect from the time the amended terms and conditions are placed on the Festival website (www.byronwritersfestival.com).

Terms & Conditions - Festival Friends Membership Drive 2026 Prize Draw

‍

The following conditions cover our Festival Friends 2026 Membership Drive campaign prize draw.

‍

‍Dates - February 23 2026 until March 23 2026

‍

The ‘Festival Friends’ membership drive campaign will be held from Monday 23 February until 11:59pm on Monday 23 March, 2026.

‍

Prizes

‍

1. At each weekly prize draw, one (1) winner will be drawn randomly. Each weekly winner will receive the prize advertised. The prizes advertised are as described and not transferable or redeemable for cash. 

2. At the end of the campaign, on Monday 23rd March 2026, the festival will draw a winner at random for the Major Prize and a Renewing Member Prize from the returning member community..

3. The Major Prize includes accommodation at The Sunseeker, Byron Bay on Friday 14 August and Saturday 15 August, 2026. The accommodation prize is only available on these dates, and is not transferable.

4. Festival tickets included in the Major and Renewing Member Prize are valid for Byron Writers Festival 2026 and cannot be redeemed for cash or used during another year.

Permission

‍

By joining the Festival Friends membership drive you will automatically be entered into the weekly prize draw, and the major prize. Renewing members will be automatically entered into the renewing member prize.

If you are randomly selected as a winner, you consent to:

• Byron Writers Festival announcing you as the winner via EDM and socials, using only your first name and the initial of your last name. 

Information about the Prize Draw

The Prize Draws will be made by Byron Writers Festival Ltd. ABN 94 163 348 616 / ACN 664 156 709 (The Festival) of Unit 2/58 Centennial Circuit, Byron Bay NSW 2481

Byron Writers Festival Ltd. will attempt to contact selected winners by phone and by email within five (5) business days of each weekly Prize Draw and the Major and Renewing Member Prize Draws. Once a winner has been successfully contacted, Byron Writers Festival Ltd. will, along with our prize partners, distribute the prizes.

If, for any reason, Byron Writers Festival is unable to establish contact with a selected winner within ten (10) business days, the selected winner will forfeit the prize and Byron Writers Festival Ltd. will randomly select a replacement winner.

Terms & Conditions – StoryBoard Creative Writing Masterclasses

‍

Terms and conditions of participation

‍

1. Storyboard creative writing masterclasses are open to school-aged children 5-18 years;
2. Masterclasses are provided free of charge thanks to support from the Australian Government, donors, volunteers, partners & supporters;
3. The program is not guaranteed to continue beyond present funding allocation; 
4. Parents are responsible for dropping off and picking up their children promptly at the start and end of class;
5. Parents are responsible for keeping contact information up to date and regularly checking emails for notifications;
6. Parents are responsible for providing students with adequate materials, afternoon tea/snacks and water for the session;
7. Parents are required to advise the program co-ordinator of any absences at storyboard@byronwritersfestival.com;
8. Student places may be canceled should students fail to attend 2 or more consecutive sessions unless the co-ordinator has been notified their absence;
9. Storyboard facilitators are responsible for duty of care of students in class time and class room;
10. Students are expected to follow instructions and behave in a way that is respectful of staff and the venues which host masterclasses; 
11. Byron Writers Festival will communicate with parents and guardians of students via email regarding any course information, changes or cancellations;
12. Byron Writers Festival will be responsible for compiling the Anthology and distributing copies to all Masterclass students, and coordinate orders and delivery of extra Anthology copies;
13. Parents will be responsible for ensuring student work for inclusion in the anthology is submitted on time in required format, which may include typing;
14. Byron Writers Festival may arrange photography of participants with parental consent;
15. Byron Writers Festival may use images of participants in promotional marketing for the Byron Writers Festival or Storyboard program with parental consent;
16. Byron Writers Festival follows child-safe practices. Parents may request to see Child Safe Policies and Working With Children Checks for presenters and staff.
