Creative Producer (First Nations)
Are you a First Nations person interested in writing, events and festivals?
Byron Writers Festival is seeking an emerging Creative Producer, a new developmental role providing programming and production experience to an emerging First Nations arts worker in regional NSW to support the delivery of the 2026 festival.
The role is designed to build new skills in festival programming and production, so we encourage you to put yourself forward even if you do not have direct experience. We’d love to hear from you if you are curious or would like more information.
About Byron Writers Festival As Australia’s favourite regional writers festival, Byron Writers Festival attracts thousands of audiences annually to experience the best in literature and shared moments of human connection. Byron Writers Festival is central to the literary, cultural and intellectual life of the Northern Rivers region and connects Byron with a national and international literary culture. We have four flagship programs: the annual Byron Writers Festival in August, our free creative writing program for children StoryBoard, Academy writing workshops, and our annual Residential Mentorship program.
About the role The Creative Producer will work with the Artistic Director and Program Manager to develop the 2026 festival program, as well as select out-of-season and year-round events and workshops. They will also assist with creation of artist schedules, communicating information to artists, and coordinating with programming partners. The Creative Producer will develop production skills, working alongside the Production Manager, technical production and venue crews on staging, logistics, built spaces, and event delivery.
