We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.
Rafael Frumkin is the author of three books: The Comedown, Confidence – a New York Times Editor’s Pick and one of the Washington Post’s 50 Best Books of 2023 – and Bugsy, which was longlisted for the 2024 Story Prize. Her creative interests lie at the intersection of American individualism, behavioral authoritarianism, and magical thinking. Her essays and criticism have appeared in the New York Times, The Point, Granta, the Believer, and the Washington Post, among others. She writes frequently at her Substack, The Cosmic Cheeto.
