We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.
During a career spanning almost thirty years, Nick Bryant established a global reputation as one of the BBC’s finest foreign correspondents. He has been posted in Washington, South Asia, Australia and, most recently, New York. He has covered many of the biggest stories of our time. The attacks of September 11th. The war in Afghanistan. The Asian tsunami. The election of Barack Obama. The election of Donald Trump.
His writing has appeared in The Economist, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Monthly and The New Statesman. He broadcasts regularly on the BBC and ABC. Nick studied history at Cambridge and has a doctorate in American politics from Oxford. He now lives in Sydney with his wife and three children.
His book, When America Stopped Being Great: The History of the Present, resided on Joe Biden’s bookshelf in the Oval Office. His latest book is The Forever War: America’s Unending Conflict with Itself.
