Writer

Luke Bateman

Luke Bateman is an Australian writer, podcaster and cultural commentator whose work explores modern identity, masculinity, literature and life in regional Australia. Known for his thoughtful perspective and grounded authenticity, Luke has built a loyal and growing audience through his reflections on culture, human connection and the stories that shape us.

After retiring from professional rugby league in 2020 following his career with the Canberra Raiders, Luke returned to rural Western Queensland, where the isolation and vastness of country life reignited his passion for reading and writing. Drawing inspiration from the landscape around him, he began sharing honest and thought-provoking commentary online, quickly resonating with audiences in Australia and internationally.

Across Instagram and TikTok, Luke has cultivated a distinctive voice that blends intellectual curiosity with emotional honesty. His content regularly explores themes including toxic masculinity, modern relationships, mental resilience and contemporary culture, earning him recognition as one of Australia’s emerging literary and social voices.

In 2025, Luke signed a two-book publishing deal with Simon & Schuster for an upcoming fantasy series, marking a significant milestone in his evolution as an author. His writing is shaped by a deep appreciation for mythology, philosophy and classic literature, with a focus on storytelling that is both emotionally resonant and culturally reflective.

Expanding his presence in the literary space, Luke also hosts In The Good Books, a podcast with 9Podcasts featuring conversations with authors, creatives and cultural figures, alongside his own recommendations and insights into contemporary literature.

In 2026, Luke appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, where he reached the Grand Finale and finished in the Top 3 while raising funds and awareness for rural charity Farm Angels.

With a growing influence across publishing, podcasting and digital media, Luke continues to establish himself as a compelling new voice in Australian storytelling.
