Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.

Lucianne Tonti

Lucianne Tonti is a regenerative fashion consultant and writer. She is the fashion editor of The Saturday Paper, the sustainability editor at large for Elle Australia and a regular contributor to The Guardian, where her column, Closet Clinic, has been read over 9 million times.    

Lucianne has spoken about the future of the industry in New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Copenhagen and Singapore. Her work is focused on providing hopeful, nature-based solutions to complex problems while holding the industry to account.

In 2019, she founded a sustainable fashion agency in Paris, during the pandemic this transformed into Prelude, an online store that was described by American Vogue as “paving the way for a slower, gentler fashion industry.”

Her writing also appears in Vogue Business, The Monthly, The Griffith Review and The Sydney Morning Herald. She has a Bachelor of Communication from RMIT, a post-graduate diploma in Political Science and a Juris Doctor of Law from the University of Melbourne.

Her award-winning book Sundressed: Natural Fibres and the Future of Fashion was published in Australia in 2022 and in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom in 2023. It is currently being developed into a docuseries by Tilt Media.
