Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.

Writer

Jock Serong

Jock Serong is the author of seven award-winning novels, most recently Cherrywood. He also writes for screen, and his non-fiction is published in outlets such as Surfing World, The Monthly, The Guardian, The Age/SMH and Patagonia's Roaring Journals.

Jock has a PhD in Creative Writing and is a board member of Melbourne's Wheeler Centre for Books, Writing and Ideas. He lives in Port Fairy on Victoria's far west coast, and often writes on Flinders Island in Bass Strait.
