We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.

Di Morrissey AM is one of the most successful and prolific authors Australia has ever produced, publishing thirty bestselling novels including her latest, River Song. Di always wanted to write novels. She worked as a journalist and TV presenter before moving to Byron Bay where she wrote her first 9 bestsellers in addition to being active in the Byron community and one of the team that started the Byron Writers Festival and the infamous "Di's drinks". She later moved to the Manning Valley to continue writing novels, as well as writing , publishing & distributing her own newspaper for ten years.
