Damon Young is an award-winning philosopher and author. His thirteen books are published internationally and translated into twelve languages, including German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Korean, and Chinese. His philosophical books include On Getting Off: Sex and Philosophy, The Art of Reading, and Philosophy in the Garden. His children's picture books include the bestselling My Nanna is a Ninja.
The Literary Review praised Damon's 'delightful combination of humour and insight', while The Australian described his work as 'readable, rousing and hugely intelligent.' The Dutch newspaper Trouw called him an 'anti Freud'. In the United States, Publisher's Weekly simply said: 'Young has nailed it'. Damon has also published short stories, poetry, and essays. He has written in several genres, including fantasy, science-fiction and horror.
His work has featured in magazines and newspapers including Meanjin, Overland, The Saturday Paper, The Guardian, Aeon, the ABC and BBC. Damon is a regular radio guest, discussing philosophy, literature, current affairs, moral conundrums. He also wrote and hosted two seasons of "Philosophy Espresso" on ABC Radio National. Raised on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, Damon now lives in Hobart, Tasmania with sociologist & author Ruth Quibell, and their two children.
