We respectfully acknowledge that Byron Writers Festival takes place on the traditional lands of the Arakwal Bumberbin Peoples of the Bundjalung Nation. We pay respects to Elders past and present, and acknowledge them as the original storytellers of the lands and waterways of this Country.
Courtney Gibson has held CEO roles at Screen NSW, the South Australian Film Corporation and Screen Queensland, along with senior executive roles at ABC TV, Nine, SBS, and production companies Southern Star and Jungle Entertainment.
Gibson oversaw the delivery of record levels of screen investment into the states in which she led agencies; along with that she developed and implemented policies and programs that delivered more diverse screen industry.
She has chaired the Screen Diversity Inclusion Network, served on the boards of Arts and Cultural Exchange (ACE) in Parramatta, Australians in Film in Los Angeles and Circa Contemporary Circus, along with the advisory boards of Bus Stop Films and Inclusively Made.
Through her company C-Type, from her base in the Northern Rivers, Gibson provides strategic consultancy services to the arts, screen and creative industries. She is currently Acting Director of Lismore Regional Gallery.
