About Kathy Lette
Kathy Lette first achieved succès de scandale as a teenager with the novel Puberty Blues, which was made into a major film and a TV mini-series. She has written 20 books which have been translated into 19 languages. Kathy has two children and divides her time between Sydney and London. Kathy is an autodidact (a word she taught herself) but has three honorary doctorates. She is a TV presenter, newspaper and magazine columnist and also an ambassador for Their World, the National Autistic Society and Ambitious About Autism. Kathy recently completed a tour of her one-woman show, "Girls Night Out", and is pleased to report that she didn't fall out with the cast.
About Nell Schofield
Nell is well-known in Australia for her work as a performer, writer, broadcaster, activist and producer. Nell famously starred in the cult classic film Puberty Blues (adapted from Kathy Lette’s iconic book). Nell wrote a monograph about her experience for Australian Screen Classics (Currency Press). She also wrote First Kiss (Allen and Unwin) and, with fellow NIDA graduates, created the original work Strictly Ballroom.
She has hosted programs with ABCTV, CNN International, Channel 9 and Showtime and has presented Sydney’s Mardi Gras broadcast for both ABC and SBS. In 2007 she became one of Al Gore's Climate Reality leaders and later worked as Senior Policy Advisor with the Office of the Lord Mayor of Sydney. For The Sunrise Project she produced and directed Guarding the Galilee (2017) and A Mighty Force (2018) about the movement to stop Adani’s Carmichael coal mine in Central Queensland.
This is Nell’s sixth year living in Byron Shire where she has been working on a variety of projects including co-curating TEDex Byron Bay 2021, presenting on BayFM 99.9, and community engagement for local Greens candidates. She is currently focused on writing and film projects.
